Recreational Sidemount Diving
The Recreational Sidemount Diving Specialty introduces divers to sidemount configuration as an alternative to traditional back-mounted scuba systems. This course focuses on using one or two cylinders worn at the diver’s sides, offering improved comfort, balance, and streamlining in the water.
Students learn proper equipment setup, weighting, and trim, along with gas management, regulator switching, and basic problem-solving skills specific to sidemount diving. Emphasis is placed on buoyancy control, body positioning, and efficient movement to enhance overall dive performance.
Recreational sidemount diving is well suited for divers seeking increased flexibility, easier gear handling, reduced strain on the back, or a pathway toward more advanced diving disciplines. Upon completion, divers gain the knowledge and skills to safely plan and conduct recreational dives using a sidemount configuration within no-decompression limits.
