The Underwater Hunter & Collector Diver Specialty is designed for divers who want to responsibly observe, document, and collect appropriate underwater items while building safe, conservation-minded diving skills. The course focuses on planning, low-impact underwater techniques, identification and legal/ethical considerations, and proper handling/storage practices for collected specimens or artifacts.
You’ll learn how to hunt and collect underwater in a way that minimizes harm to marine life and habitats, including best practices for buoyancy control, navigation, and situational awareness. Through guided dives and skill sessions, students develop the knowledge and confidence to participate in underwater collecting responsibly—whether for personal projects, documentation, or hobby collections—while maintaining strong safety standards and adhering to applicable regulations.
