The Search & Recovery Specialty teaches divers the skills and techniques needed to locate and recover lost objects underwater safely and efficiently. The course covers search patterns, lift bag usage, rigging techniques, and proper planning for recovery operations.
Divers learn to handle heavy or awkward objects, prevent damage to the environment, and work effectively with a buddy or team. Emphasis is placed on buoyancy control, communication, problem-solving, and safety protocols throughout search and recovery operations.
Upon completion, divers are qualified to plan and execute search and recovery dives, developing the confidence and competence to recover objects while minimizing risk to themselves and the underwater environment.
