The Wreck Diver Specialty trains divers to safely explore and navigate shipwrecks while minimizing risk to themselves and the environment. The course covers wreck identification, history, hazards, penetration planning, navigation, and proper use of lines and reels when entering wrecks.
Divers learn to manage entanglement, silt-outs, overhead environments, and restricted spaces, as well as techniques for careful buoyancy control and hazard recognition. Emphasis is placed on pre-dive planning, dive team communication, and maintaining situational awareness throughout the dive.
Upon completion, divers are qualified to conduct safe wreck dives, gaining the skills and confidence to explore wrecks responsibly while preserving their structural integrity and the surrounding marine environment.
